Italy’s style icon and fashion journalist Anna Piaggi (1931 – 7 August 2012) has passed away aged 81. Piaggi, who was famous in the fashion world for her eccentric colourful style and pale blue hair was found dead in her home in Milan.
Anna Piaggi who was credited with introducing vintage fashion to the Italians was a celebrated fashion writer who contributed extensively to Vogue Italia with her inspirational editorials.
Piaggi was often described as a muse for fashion designers, she was creatively close to Karl Lagerfeld and was well know for wearing hats by milliner Stephen Jones. In 2006, London’s Victoria & Albert museum celebrated her style by staging an exhibition: Anna Piaggi Fashion-ology, exhibiting an archive of her personal wardrobe, highlighting her extensive collection of vintage couture and designer clothing.
