Thought coasters were always boring shaped pads? Think again, designer Michiel Cornelissen has creted interlocking coasters called Zesch. Place them individually or join them together to create a mesh pattern shape on your table.

What’s more, use one for a cup or glass, and interlock a few coasters to create a greater surface area to place larger items such as pots and pans that are hot straight off the oven.

Made from 3-ply sheets of bamboo, from which the shape is laser cut, they can be used alone or connected to create any pattern you happen to like.
